Many of us complain about our favourite music not being played in the gym and how it affects our performance in the gym. Little do we know that there exist some athletes who are working their ass off even without any kind of gym, let alone music. Jean Baptiste Yanou Ketchanke, is one such athlete in Cameroon, who is taking the scene of weightlifting in Africa, to another level.
This 81 kg Olympic Weightlifter from Cameroon doesn’t let the absence of proper gym stop him from achieving his dreams. He is a commonwealth champion and a regional coach as well.
On his Instagram page, he can be seen lifting heavy weights on wooden planks on the streets. Some of his famous lifts include a 352 pounds (160 kg) clean and jerk at 152 pounds (62 kg) body weight. And a clean along with two front squats with the same weight.
Despite the lack of proper equipment, Jean Baptiste has achieved his dreams of being one of the best athletes out there. Even his social media presence is continuously growing. With around 32,000 followers, he has gained quite the popularity in his region.
Weight lifting is one of the most demanding sport and seeing Jean Baptiste achievements training with nothing but sheer gumption and determination, is simply inspiring.
